...6th Fest launches...
Cold Reads in Global Warming
a free series for community and fun where plays of conscience are performed by professional actors, activists, and community members (maybe you!) with little to no rehearsal, "cold."
For Free.
Hosted by the foundational New York Society for Ethical Culture
A small group of different people meets each week to read in a no-pressure environment to study the plays that have helped shape history, and every fourth meeting is with an audience.
Sunday 3/30, will be the first reading: The Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Guirgis, a play where a defense attorney in purgatory appeals God's decision to eternally damn Judas Iscariot. A beautiful, hilarious courtroom drama with witnesses from Mother Theresa to Sigmund Freud ensues, putting the central questions of life in the balance. Open to people of all philosophies and faiths. Performers will draw roles from a hat in front of the audience with only enough rehearsal to show them where to stand.
